Eph 4:1-3 NKJV
(1) I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
(2) with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
(3) endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is a undeniable need today for Christians to recover their sense of their high calling which graced our forefathers and filled them with courage, nobility and enduring commitment to Christ, as well as to one another. Something beyond ordinary religious duty and mere emotional loyalties must lift our thoughts and labours to match those of our predecessors.
Certainly, however, we must realize that it is the Lord’s intention that we excel in faith, hope and love. Think of it as an ongoing journey of advanced excellence.
Our success in this regard will be the validation of our faith, and a fitting tribute to the faithfulness of those who have gone before us. They laid their lives down to bring the Gospel thus far; we, for our part, must now lay our lives down and carry it further!
Advanced excellence is inherent within the call of God upon our lives. The path of the righteous is like the light of day, shining brighter and brighter unto the perfect day
Pro 4:18 NKJV
But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
It gets brighter and better with each passing moment. It becomes more dynamic with each successive generation.
The first miracle performed by Jesus was at a wedding in Cana of Galilee. It was there that He turned the water into wine, and the host at the wedding exclaimed, “You have saved the best for now!”(John 2:10). Surely, this pattern will hold true as well for the Church in these last days. The Lord will save the best for last. Just as the prophet Haggai wrote, “and the glory of the latter house shall be greater than that of the former.” (Hag 2:9) – so it shall be.
The churches finest hour is upon us! We are the chosen generation. We must not look to the former days of glory with vain imaginations of how wonderful it would’ve been for us to have been there. Nor can we look only to the future and console ourselves with how blissful it is going to be once Jesus returns.
Today is the day of Salvation. We must answer the call of the Lord for our time. We must walk worthy of the call in this our day. We must sense the moment that God has provided, and seize the momentum of God’s Spirit in bringing forth His purposes in this generation.
There may indeed be those to whom we will faithfully pass the torch in the days to come, and through whom even greater glory may abound to Christ our King. But we must first run our race so that we might have a torch to pass. We must take our place in the succession of the Faithful and do our part to keep the Faith in this our time.
I CALL UPON EVERY SON OF GOD TO HEED THIS CALL OF THE LORD AND TO RUN THE RACE FAITHFULLY AS AN OVERCOMER
