WHAT IS THE OUTCOME OF THE VOICE – DOES IT PRODUCE GODLY FRUIT IN YOUR LIFE?
One of the most reliable biblical tests for discerning the voice of God is to examine its fruit and outcome. God’s voice is never aimless, random, or destructive. It always carries divine intention, and it always produces results that align with His nature, His kingdom, and His righteousness.
What God speaks will always accomplish what He intends.
Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)
(11) So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
This Scripture reveals a foundational truth: when God speaks, His Word carries the power to fulfil what it commands. It does not depend on human strength or circumstance for completion. It is self-accomplishing because it is backed by the authority of God Himself.
A true word from God will not ultimately lead to destruction, chaos, or spiritual fruitlessness. Even if obedience requires faith and endurance, the end result will align with God’s purposes.
God’s Voice Always Has Divine Purpose
Unlike human opinions or emotional impressions, the voice of God is always purpose-driven. It is sent with intent, direction, and a guaranteed outcome aligned with His will.
Isaiah 46:10 (NKJV)
(10) Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’
This means that when God speaks:
- There is a divine assignment attached to the word
- There is a kingdom purpose behind it
- There is an intended result already established in heaven
Even when the instruction is challenging, it is never meaningless.
God’s Voice Produces Spiritual Fruit, Not Chaos
A key distinction between God’s voice and other influences is the type of fruit produced. God is not the author of confusion or disorder.
1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV)
(33) For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
If a “voice” leads to:
- ongoing confusion
- relational destruction without redemptive purpose
- moral compromise
- spiritual stagnation or emptiness
then it is inconsistent with the nature of God.
In contrast, the voice of God produces:
- righteousness
- clarity
- peace rooted in truth
- spiritual growth and maturity
Obedience May Be Difficult, But the Outcome Is Redemptive
Not every instruction from God feels easy in the moment. Sometimes obedience requires:
- faith in uncertainty
- endurance through trials
- surrender of personal desire
However, the end result of God’s voice is always redemptive and constructive, never destructive.
Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
(28) And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Even trials initiated or permitted under divine instruction will ultimately produce:
- maturity of character
- deeper dependence on God
- alignment with His will
God’s Voice Produces Righteous Alignment
A critical question in discernment is whether the instruction leads you closer to holiness or further from it.
Hebrews 12:14 (NKJV)
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”
God’s voice will never:
- normalize sin
- weaken your conviction for righteousness
- lead you into compromise
Instead, it will consistently:
- strengthen your desire for holiness
- draw you into repentance where needed
- align your life with Christ’s character
The Fruit Test – Evaluating the Voice
Jesus gave a clear principle for discernment based on fruit:
Matthew 7:16 (NKJV)
(16) You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
To test whether a voice is from God, ask:
- Does this lead to righteousness?
A true word from God will never excuse sin—it will always elevate righteousness.
- Does it produce peace and spiritual growth?
God’s guidance brings inner stability, even in external pressure.
Philippians 4:7 NKJV
(7) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- Does it align with God’s character?
God never contradicts Himself. His voice reflects His nature—love, truth, justice, mercy, and holiness.
The voice of God is not only identified by how it sounds—it is confirmed by what it produces.
If a voice is truly from God:
- It will carry divine purpose
- It will produce lasting spiritual fruit
- It will align with Scripture and righteousness
- It will lead to peace, even through difficulty
Matthew 7:20 (NKJV)
(20) Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
When the voice is from God, the outcome will always testify of Him—because God never speaks without intention, and He never intends failure in what He has spoken.
Ask yourself:
- Does this lead to righteousness?
- Does it produce peace and spiritual growth?
- Does it align with God’s character?
