THE ALTAR OF RESURRECTION AND LIFE IN CHRIST
There is a powerful call in the Kingdom of God that goes far beyond simply attending church, serving in ministry, or carrying a title. It is the call to become a true son — a son whose life is laid down on the altar in complete surrender to the will of God.
Jesus revealed this truth clearly when He declared:
John 11:25 NKJV
(25) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
Before there can be resurrection life, there must first be sacrifice. Before there can be Kingdom authority, there must first be surrender. This is the pattern we see in Christ, and it is the same pattern we see in the life of Isaac.
Isaac becomes one of the clearest prophetic pictures of what true sonship looks like.
THE ALTAR IN THE LIFE OF A TRUE SON
Jesus never hid the cost of discipleship. He made it clear that following Him would require death to self.
Luke 9:23 NKJV
(23) Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
The Greek word used for “deny” is aparneomai, which means:
- To forget oneself
- To lose sight of one’s own interests
- To surrender personal desires
True sonship begins when a believer stops living for personal ambition and begins living for the desire and purpose of Christ.
This is the altar experience.
The altar is not merely a place of ministry activity. It is the place where self-will dies.
Many believers want resurrection power, but few want the altar that produces it.
ISAAC: A PICTURE OF A YACHID SON
In Genesis 22, God spoke to Abraham and said:
Genesis 22:2 NKJV
(2) Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
The phrase “only son” comes from the Hebrew word Yachid, which means:
- One
- United
- Unique
- Completely joined
A Yachid son is not simply a son by association. He is one with the father in vision, purpose, heart, and obedience.
This same principle appears again in John 3:16 concerning Jesus:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”
Jesus is the ultimate Yachid Son because He was perfectly aligned with the Father.
Luke 22:42 NKJV
(42) saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
A Yachid son reaches the place where the father’s vision becomes his vision, and the father’s burden becomes his burden.
SONSHIP REQUIRES A CHOICE
One of the greatest truths about Isaac is this: Isaac willingly submitted to the altar.
Abraham was old. Isaac was young and strong. Isaac could easily have resisted, fought back, or run away. Instead, he chose surrender.
This reveals an important Kingdom principle:
True sonship is voluntary.
No one can force a believer into becoming a Yachid son. It is a decision born from love, trust, honor, and surrender.
Many believers desire the benefits of sonship:
- Covering
- Inheritance
- Blessing
- Impartation
- Spiritual identity
But true sonship also requires sacrifice, trust, loyalty, and submission.
BECOMING THE SACRIFICE
Romans 12:1 tells us:
Romans 12:1 NKJV
(1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
In the Old Testament, the sacrifice was placed on the altar. Under the New Covenant, we become the sacrifice.
This means laying down:
- Personal ambition
- Pride
- Self-promotion
- Competition
- Offense
- Independent thinking
- Fleshly desires
The altar deals with the self-life so that Christ can fully emerge within us.
A TRUE SON BECOMES A WOOD-BEARER
Genesis 22:6 NKJV
(6) So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together.
Isaac carried the wood for his own sacrifice.
This is one of the greatest pictures of true sonship.
A true son learns to carry burdens.
He does not wait to be begged, manipulated, or forced into serving. His heart naturally moves toward helping carry the weight of the vision.
In practical terms, this means:
- Serving faithfully
- Supporting the work of the ministry
- Praying for leadership
- Becoming dependable
- Taking responsibility
- Being involved where there is need
True sons do not merely consume from the house. They help build the house.
TRUSTING THE FATHER
One of the remarkable things in Genesis 22 is that God spoke to Abraham — not Isaac.
Isaac had to trust the father.
This speaks prophetically of spiritual alignment and trust within Kingdom relationships.
Paul said:
1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV
(1) Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Healthy spiritual sonship is never about idolizing man. It is about recognizing and honouring the grace of God operating through spiritual leadership.
Carnal thinking constantly resists surrender because the flesh fears losing control.
The flesh says:
- “What about my dreams?”
- “What about my ministry?”
- “What about my recognition?”
- “Why should I sacrifice for someone else?”
But the Spirit understands that God often develops sons through submission, service, and humility.
THE DANGER OF INDEPENDENT SPIRITS
Scripture repeatedly warns about attitudes that destroy divine order and covenant relationships.
The Spirit of Korah — Rebellion
Korah challenged Moses because he viewed leadership through a carnal lens rather than through God’s divine order.
Rebellion often manifests through:
- Constant criticism
- Competition
- Murmuring
- Resisting authority
- Seeking position and recognition
The Spirit of Balaam — Self-Gain
Balaam desired ministry benefits without purity of heart.
This mindset uses gifting for:
- Personal advancement
- Financial gain
- Influence
- Recognition
The Spirit of Absalom — Self-Promotion
Absalom stole the hearts of the people through offense, manipulation, and ambition.
This spirit thrives on:
- Offense
- Independent ambition
- Pride
- Secret criticism
- Undermining leadership
The Spirit of Cain — Competition and Jealousy
Cain could offer sacrifice externally, but his heart was never surrendered.
This spirit produces:
- Comparison
- Envy
- Competition
- Character assassination
- False maturity
The altar destroys these mindsets because the altar crucifies self-interest.
THE REWARD OF THE ALTAR
When Abraham and Isaac reached the altar, God revealed Himself as Jehovah Jireh — the Lord who provides.
The altar is never the end of the story.
After sacrifice comes:
- Resurrection
- Inheritance
- Multiplication
- Authority
- Promotion
- Spiritual maturity
God told Abraham:
Genesis 22:17 NKJV
(17) blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
The sons who embrace the altar become trustworthy carriers of Kingdom inheritance.
THE VISION OF FATHERS IS BUILT UPON SACRIFICIAL SONS
There is a powerful principle revealed throughout Scripture:
“The vision of fathers is built upon the lives of sons laid upon the altar.”
This was true of:
- Isaac and Abraham
- Joshua and Moses
- Elisha and Elijah
- Timothy and Paul
- Jesus and the Father
Every major move of God requires surrendered sons.
BECOMING A YACHID SON
A Yachid son is:
- One with the father’s vision
- Faithful in service
- Trustworthy with responsibility
- Willing to sacrifice
- Free from competition
- Rooted in covenant
- Mature in humility
- Aligned in spirit
This is not about control, manipulation, or unhealthy dependence upon man. True Kingdom sonship always points us deeper into Christ and transforms us into His image.
The call of God today is not merely to attend church, hold a position, or carry a title.
The call is to become a son whose life is fully surrendered on the altar.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The altar is not a place of loss — it is a place of transformation.
Isaac went up the mountain as a son, but he came down carrying the promise of inheritance.
Jesus went to the cross, but He rose in resurrection power and glory.
The same principle applies to every believer today.
When we surrender ourselves fully to God, lay down our pride, ambition, and self-will, and embrace the process of true discipleship, God produces resurrection life within us.
The question every believer must answer is this:
WHAT KIND OF SON WILL YOU BECOME?
Will you remain a casual observer in the house, or will you become a Yachid son — one who is fully surrendered, fully aligned, and fully committed to the purposes of God?
The altar is waiting.
